The best neighborhood is not one formed by individual works. A systematic process, a certain homogeneity, and expressive modesty are attributes necessary for most residential buildings. Therefore, the external facades are composed of repetitive openings which don’t reveal the inside space to the viewer. These facades form a quiet urban setting while contributing to the overall identity.
A completely closed block can be restrictive. We maintain the block’s morphology by preserving its alignment with neighboring blocks. The interior gardens are connected to the outside street, opening south.
The sensible helical shape maintains the urban scale, adding to the neighborhood of Sanchinarro and creating an orderly visual reference for the exterior. The interior, where there is access to all homes, has a more domestic scale.
The garden has continuous, inclined surfaces and gentle hills: a topography where a child can play hide and seek.
The social housing policy has determined the building’s surfaces and number of bedrooms. The geometric structure varies the housing orientation and allows a broad typological diversity.
